We provide full‑day, full‑year early childhood development services to low‑income children ages 0‑3 years and their families in educationally stimulating learning environments.
Position SummaryThe Teacher Assistant partners in planning and implementing a classroom‑learning environment to promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success. The Assistant assists the Teacher in providing high‑quality, developmentally appropriate care and education for children ages 3‑5 in a center‑based classroom. The Assistant participates as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the child in all areas of development while providing education, disability, health, and social service support to families.
The Assistant abides by all state and federal regulations that apply to care and education of young children, including the revised Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, and CPLC ECD Content Area Plans and Procedures. The Assistant actively supervises children by sight and sound, maintains health and safety regulations, and facilitates health practices to keep children safe in all environments.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or a state‑awarded certificate meeting or exceeding CDA requirements, according to Texas Child Care Licensing or New Mexico State Child Care Regulations.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Minimum 6 months experience in an early childhood development setting.
- 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Development or a closely related field.
- Enrollment in a Child Development Associate Credential program to be completed within 1 year from hire date.
- Education obtained outside the United States must be evaluated by an accredited organization for equivalency to U.S. standards.
- Computer literacy is necessary.
- Basic keyboard skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and web‑based systems.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
