Required Qualifications- Must be pursuing a
B.Sc. in a natural resource-related program. - Ability to use a personal computer for basic reporting, documentation, and developing presentations.
- Strong work ethic.
- Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be willing to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to present findings at Sul Ross State University and at least 1 wildlife related conference.
- GPA of 2.5.
- Dedication of up to 19 hrs/week to research project.

- What:
Assist graduate students with research projects in the field and/or lab. - Major focuses are Big Game, Conservation Biology, Game Birds, and Habitat.
- Tasks will depend on the specific project; however, you could potentially do any of the following (this not an exhaustive list):
- Deploy/monitor field equipment (i.e., nets, traps, fence, meters, cameras, recording devices, arrays, etc…) associated with research.
- Handle captured wildlife.
- Conduct habitat management activities related to research.
- Conduct various wildlife, vegetative, soil, and hydrological surveys.
- Work in the Department greenhouse.
- Collect, compile, organize, inventory, and/or analyze various collections, photos, and data.
- Keep track of your time worked and report it monthly.
- Take care of equipment and vehicles as you use them.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- When: 2025-26 SRSU Academic Calendar (Sept. 1 - May 31).
- Where: SRSU campus and field-research locations.
Field-research locations can present remote and harsh environmental conditions, including potentially dangerous situations involving plants, wildlife, surveys, and thermoregulation.

The report also contains crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes on campus, in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities, in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
