Job Summary:
The Student Success Advocate role involves building and maintaining effective relationships with students, school staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners. You will be responsible for coordinating assistance for students and families by providing services such as case management and crisis intervention. You will also facilitate school-wide and group programs based upon the campus needs and feedback. Lastly, you will collect and analyze data continually throughout the school year to monitor student and campus progress towards goals.
CISBC is looking for someone who is driven and can work well with ambiguity in a fast paced campus environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and Maintain Effective Relationships
- Develop good working relationships with students, school staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners
- Provide orientation and training for school staff, volunteers, and community partners as needs are identified
- Complete and implement the annual Campus Support Plan
- Communicate with school principal or designee on a regular basis to seek input and report on program progress
- Partner with all school staff that focus on student support services
Coordinate Needed Services for Students and Families
- Assist in seeking resources for the school community and connecting resources to meet identified needs
- Coordinate with CISBC and school staff to identify the social service, educational, vocational, and cultural needs of students and families
- Design, implement, and coordinate an array of programs, services, and resources that will benefit students at risk as well as the entire student population
- Provide and document short-term, crisis intervention service on an as-needed basis
Provide Student Services
- Provide case management services to students with Texas Education Agency identified needs and/or risk factors
- Conduct home visits and hold school conferences to build one-on-one relationships with students and families
- Check attendance and contact parents of absent students
- Provide appropriate recommendations to outside agencies for students and families
- Maintain a case file on each case-managed student
Collect, Report, and Analyze Data
- Collect data, compile, and complete required reports utilizing CIS-NAV
- Utilize available data to adjust the annual Campus Support Plan as appropriate
- Retain records for all services and activities provided and enter them into CIS-NAV
Other
- Attend meetings, training events, and other meetings as requested by Executive Director, Program Coordinator, and/or school principal
- Participate fully in orientation and training, meetings, and other activities as required
- Assist with campus related resource development and marketing activities as directed by the Executive Director and/or Resource Development Coordinator.
- Carry out other duties as determined by the Executive Director, Program Coordinator, and/or Board of Directors for the successful operation of the program
SUPERVISION AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Supervision is the shared responsibility of the Communities In Schools Executive Director, Campus & Student Advocacy Leadership, and the school Principal per the CISBC/School District Partnership Agreement. The Student Success Advocate will have reporting responsibilities to each.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree preferred in social work, psychology, social sciences, education, or a related field
- Three or more year’s experience in working with schools and/or families and children
- Basic technology skills such as Google suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc…)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong management and organizational skills
- Familiar with case management, social work, education system, health and human services, juvenile justice, and other family support services
- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, have the ability to multi-task, possess innovative and creative [formatting issue] problem-solving abilities, be resourceful and function as an influential team member
- Valid Texas driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance
