Salary: $12 per hour

• Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA overall.
• Must interview with the Tutor Coordinator.
• Math tutors: completed MATH 1314, MATH 1332, or MATH 1342 with a grade of “A” or “B.”
• English tutors: completed ENG 1302 with a grade of “A” or “B.”
• Science tutors: completed at least two 1000‑level lecture/laboratory courses with a grade of “A” or “B”.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Must have a referral from a professor.

• Have passed all sections of the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) or TSIA.

• Maintain a 3.0 GPA overall.
• Complete the initial and ongoing training programs, working toward Level 1 CRLA Certification by the end of the tutor’s first semester.
• Read and follow guidelines established in the handbook.
• Become familiar with all services of the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) and related services of other offices to make appropriate student referrals.
• Tutor students individually or in group settings.
• Establish rapport with students and create a friendly, helpful atmosphere.
• Identify the individual needs of students who request assistance and help them obtain the necessary resources.
• Encourage and motivate students to improve their attitudes about college and studying.
• Establish communications with instructors of students as needed.
• Read and comply with administrative policies and respond to questionnaires when requested.
• Help maintain and retain reference and instructional materials.
• Adhere to a predetermined work schedule, keep accurate records of hours worked and student contacts, give as much notice as possible for unavoidable absences, and be punctual in all matters.
• Complete specifically assigned projects, jobs, or tasks.
• Complete necessary forms for program evaluation.
• Meet with supervisors as scheduled.
• Keep accurate records of assistance completed.
• Perform other duties as required.
