Job Title:Head Start Instructional Aide
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Primary
Purpose:
Provide instructional support services. Assist teacher in instruction, preparation, and management of classroom activities. Works under the direct supervision of the assigned teacher.
- Assist in the education and daily program of the classroom; including extension to a full day Pre-K program.
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of all Head Start functions,
- Identifies, reports and provides supportive services and notifies the classroom teacher of any concerns,
- Assist with home visits,
- Assist with the implementation of lesson plans,
- Provide for the individual and safety needs of each child,
- Assist classroom teacher with assessments and screenings,
- Assist with home-style meal service,
- Attend workshops, conferences and all in-service trainings,
- Maintain training hours and documentation as required,
- Assist in keeping classroom and work areas clean and neat at all times,
- Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in working with children,
- Acquire and maintain up-to-date training/certification in CPR and First Aide,
- Assist with the collection of required documentation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree, two years of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment. Minimally, a high school diploma or equivalent. Six months related experience in an early childhood setting. Preferably, maintain a Child Development Associate certification (CDA) in early childhood, human services or related field.
High School Graduate/GED or higher
- Experience related to working with children in a preschool setting
- bilingual in Spanish
- basic technology/computer knowledge
- ability to work effectively without extensive supervision
- Abide by all Head Start and FISD policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all DFPS and OHS regulations and standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student information
- Report suspected child abuse/neglect to supervisor and law enforcement agency
- Knowledge of basic office equipment usage
