The Northstar Infant Teacher nurtures, cares for, and teaches our youngest students while creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Implement the Company-provided curriculum, including instruction across ten learning domains, by preparing written, age-appropriate lesson plans on a weekly basis.
- Adapt and implement lesson plans to meet the individual developmental and learning levels of each child through observation, listening, and formal and informal assessments.
- Interact with children and model socially appropriate behavior in the classroom and on the playground.
- Develop and participate in physical activities that require frequent standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and formal and informal assessments based on the age-appropriate interests and developmental needs of children.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by:
- Following all Company procedures related to injuries and accidents.
- Communicating potential hazards or injuries to students, staff, and/or the Director.
- Completing assigned safety checklists.
- Ensuring attendance is accurately completed and used throughout the day.
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate child protective agencies or child abuse hotlines as required by law.
- Regularly use digital technology as part of classroom instruction and activities.
- Provide daily written and verbal feedback to parents regarding their child's social and intellectual development.
- Conduct parent conferences twice annually.
- Attend all required in-person staff training sessions and meetings as directed by the School Director.
- Treat every child with respect and dignity by recognizing and supporting each child's unique background, abilities, interests, and individual style and pace of learning, including children with disabilities.
- Create and maintain an intellectually stimulating and age-appropriate classroom environment through creative displays, including student artwork, crafts, documentation of learning, bulletin boards, and digital technology.
- Open and/or close the assigned classroom as needed.
- Complete daily attendance visually and in writing.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, including sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.
- Participate in TRS or accreditation goals and complete associated classroom requirements, when applicable.
- Coach and provide positive direction to other team members and delegate classroom tasks as needed to accomplish classroom objectives.
- Must meet all applicable state licensing requirements for education.
- Must meet all education and experience standards and requirements established by the state and applicable accreditation agency.
- Must be teacher-qualified according to applicable state requirements.
- Ability to coach others, provide positive direction, and delegate tasks effectively.
- At least 1 year of experience in a licensed childcare center preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
