Scope of Job

Under the direction of the site manager, this position is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power energy storage systems; and, under the supervision of an experienced technician, conducts troubleshooting and repairs. The role requires a safe work approach and seeks guidance for unfamiliar tasks. Some travel is required, but it is not a full‑time travelling technician position.

Ivanhoe, Minnesota – On‑site.

Salary Range

The full pay range for this role is $22.16 to $36.97 per hour, with a good faith estimated starting pay of $23.00 to $29.00 per hour.

Required Training

Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of their employment in Albert Lea, MN. Travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • In the field:
    • Perform preventative maintenance on wind turbines, utility‑scale photovoltaic power plants, and storage systems.
    • Under supervision, perform troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of equipment.
    • Complete Job Safety Assessments, apply LOTOs by following LOTO plans & procedures, identify & report all safety hazards, and attend safety meetings.
    • Participate in the 24hr/weekly “On Call” rotation & work outside business hours when needed.
    • Attend safety and technical training required for this position.
  • Administrative duties: document completed jobs, implement supply orders, complete daily work orders, time tracking, and other required paperwork for specific project/assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions & Duties
  • 100% of time is spent working in the renewable asset field; marginal time in office utilizing computers, phones, and general office equipment.
  • Work on platforms or skids, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Schedule:

    eight (8) hours a day, forty (40) hours a week, with overtime and night shifts as required.
  • Exposure to extreme weather, high voltage and stored energy, moving mechanical parts, vibration, confined spaces, and moderate noise levels.
Fiscal Responsibilities

All levels of the organization must be fiscally responsible on the company's behalf.

Qualifications
  • High school Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar discipline.
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.
Required Certifications
  • OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.
  • Basic Safety Training (BST) certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • Basic Technical Training (BTT) certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE) certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • Slinger and Signaler certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Valid current driver’s license and ability to operate motor vehicles.
