Wind Service Technician
A local Wind Service Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring the wind farm produces reliable power. They perform a range of duties including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as climbing towers for inspections and repairs. They also contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of the wind farm by following safety protocols, maintaining records, and assisting with other tasks as needed.

- Routine Maintenance:
Performing scheduled maintenance checks, inspections, and lubrication on wind turbine components. - Troubleshooting and Repair:
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with wind turbines. - Safety:
Ensuring all work activities are performed safely, adhering to safety protocols and procedures, and providing safety training. - Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance data. - Tower Climbing:
Climbing the towers to inspect, diagnose and repair components, requiring specialized climbing skills and equipment. - Component Replacement:
Replacing or repairing worn-out or damaged wind turbine components.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. An associate’s degree in a related field is a plus. Other combinations of education and experience (e.g., military or skilled trades) will be considered. - Background:
Wind turbine maintenance or power generation experience preferred but not required. - Safety Knowledge:
Understanding of safety protocols and LOTO procedures. - Technical
Skills:
Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex technical issues. - Communication
Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. - Physical Fitness:
Ability to climb wind turbine towers and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions. - Other Requirements:
Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by OSHA safety regulations. Valid driver’s license required; candidates will be subject to a DMV check.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
About The TeamLive Oak Wind Farm opened in 2018, located just outside of Eldorado, Texas, and consists of 76 Siemens G2 2.625‑120 turbines.
