Safety Advisor

LOCATION:

Fairfield, Texas

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing safety and health compliance support to the Company’s natural gas pipeline network, gathering facilities and processing facilities. The position oversees compliance programs, procedures, policies, and record‑keeping associated with federal, state, and local safety regulations. It reports to the Senior Manager of Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) and serves as liaison with company management, operating personnel, and regulatory agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage regional health and safety program to ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations, policies, procedures, plans, etc.
  • Manage incident reporting, follow‑up activities, and participate in investigations; ensure investigations are completed by deadlines.
  • Be available 24/7 for emergencies; occasional last‑minute travel may be required.
  • Identify incidents, industry trends, and improvements to the existing Health and Safety Program.
  • Review, revise, update, and/or write technical documents related to the EHS Manual, procedures, plans, training materials, EHS Newsletters, and other similar documents.
  • Conduct on‑site facility audits to determine compliance and identify improvements.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute health and safety instructor‑led training courses; ensure employee compliance with training requirements and assist in implementing the Company’s online training platform.
  • Manage Contractor Safety Program for assigned area.
  • Coordinate, develop, and participate in the Company’s safety‑related committees and activities.
  • Administer regional Hearing Protection and Respiratory Protection Programs, including required fit testing.
  • Assist with Contractor OQ, Pipeline O&M, DOT Compliance, Security Plan, and Emergency Response activities.
  • Assist in implementing safety management software to track incidents, safety observations, compliance, and reporting.
  • Periodically travel to each asset to inspect equipment, operations, and maintenance processes; review site‑specific record‑keeping; ensure all safety‑related action items are completed timely.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and audits and provide information to regulatory agencies.
  • Aid in developing corporate EHS budget and efficiently track and manage expenditures.
  • Prepare OSHA 300 logs.
  • Assist HR with worker’s compensation claims and related issues.
  • Assist EHS due diligence associated with acquisitions.
  • Interact with all levels of employees and management, as well as regulators and consultants, with self‑confidence, poise, and professionalism.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Education, Experience, &

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, related engineering, or science field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with applicable health and safety programs; environmental experience a plus. Position and pay based on experience; more experienced candidates may be considered for a senior level position.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in the natural gas midstream sector.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Experience with sour gas operations and hydrogen sulfide safety programs.
  • Computer skills:
    Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google Earth and/or GIS.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, manage interruptions, meet deadlines, and multi‑task in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug test and be subject to random, for‑cause, and post‑accident testing in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Must pass criminal history background check.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
