Summary This position is responsible for the operation of compressors, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, valves, pipelines and other related gas processing equipment, ensuring the cost effective and efficient operation of gas processing and treating units and associated equipment within gas and liquid facilities and pipelines.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment and systems at plant facilities including cryogenic plants, hydrocarbon fractionation units, LNG facilities, engines and compressors, pump stations, etc. in a reliable and efficient manner while in compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Seek to optimize processing through facility maintenance and keep product specifications.
- Respond to alarms and problems within the plant and take corrective measures.
- Monitor and control pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and levels to efficiently achieve desired operating results.
- Demonstrate understanding of maintenance and compliance of plant operations in alignment with standards (PSM-SPCC-TNRCC).
- Maintain and adhere to required trainings, policies, and procedures.
- Where applicable, pass all PSM-required operator certifications.
- Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
- Communicate with control centers, business groups, and other operating groups as necessary.
- Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
- Perform lab tests for quality assurance, diagnose mechanical problems, complete minor repairs, assist other technical staff, and any other tasks as assigned.
- Monitor field compressor status through SCADA.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures.
- Perform energy isolation LOTO procedures.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Level C: 0‑2 years of industry or equivalent experience.
- Level B: 2‑4 years of industry or equivalent experience.
- Level A: 4+ years of industry or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license in state of residency.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑starter able to work independently and exercise good judgement.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, shift rotations, and perform call outs.
- Ability to react to high‑stress/emergency situations deliberately and timely.
- Mechanical aptitude to learn and perform operations and maintenance tasks.
- Proficiency with computers (MS Office, time reporting, expense reporting, etc.).
- Experience with HIMI software operations.
- Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and adverse weather.
- Confined spaces may be required.
- Repetitive standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, climbing ladders up to 25 feet, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work in industrial and construction settings with hazardous products, extreme temperatures, loud machinery; requires appropriate PPE.
