Must be able to assume responsibility for operation of the equipment included in a central controlled turbo‑generator‑boiler system with its associated fuel handling facilities, auxiliaries and function during a shift. You must be qualified to do the following related work as assigned: service, or remove from service and operate turbo‑generator and boiler systems. Check function of governors and controls, and related auxiliary equipment, perform simple operations in connection with general test work on boilers.

Check bearing temperatures and turbines, pumps and other related equipment for proper operation using precision hand, bench and power tools. Under close and/or directive supervision, with limited latitude for planning or laying out of working details, you must be able to perform simple mechanical work involved in the inspection, repair, installation, test, adjustment and calibration of meters and instruments, and of automatic combustion control equipment and regulating devices in generating stations.

You must also perform simple electrical work involved in the inspection, repair or installation of electrical equipment in generating stations and electrical substations and related equipment in shop or on site, and perform simple mechanical work involved in the inspection, repair and installation of mechanical equipment.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associates Degree in Process Operations Technology or Instrumentation (preferred)
• Familiar with elementary principles of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices used in generating.
• Familiar with principles of operation, function, and construction of plants, including steam boilers, turbo‑generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators and their controls and auxiliary systems.

• Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test.
