Position Overview
Solar Technician
Location:
Rogers, TX 76569. Permanent, full‑time position at ENGIE North America Inc., Division: GBU Renewables & Flexible Power.
Your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems and repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, submit on‑site status reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly), and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.
- Coordinate high voltage switching activities with local utilities and ISO, including substation operations, equipment lockouts, and grounding.
- Adhere to safety protocols such as Site‑Specific Orientation, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings.
- Work on site primarily in a 2‑person team; there is always a safety support technician. The site team includes a site manager, a Balance‑of‑Plant technician, and the solar technician.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation for outages and emergencies; must reside within 50 mi of the site.
- Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program covering AC/DC electrical theory, blueprints, schematics, and industrial electrical equipment (breakers, disconnects, transformers, contractors).
- Minimum two (2) years experience on solar generation sites and wind generation sites.
- Must have or be willing to obtain AVO substation technician certification within 12 months of hire.
- Capacity to be on‑call as deemed necessary by supervisor.
Field position requiring daily travel to client site(s). Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and outages. Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record to drive company vehicle. Must comply with COVID vaccination/testing policies and all ENGIE ethics and safety policies. The position consists of 30% indoor work and 70% outdoor work;
outdoor work may expose employee to weather conditions.
Salary Range: $34.21–$40.00 USD hourly. Actual salary may depend on geography, experience, education, and other factors.
Additionally eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan and emergency/on‑call pay.
