What You Can Expect

As a Wind Technician II, you will support the operation and maintenance of the wind power facilities at the Century Oak Wind site located in Cisco, TX. You will be responsible for medium voltage troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on ENGIE's wind turbines and associated equipment. You will also be a part of an on‑call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.

Any mileage in access will need manager approval.

Your Daily Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To:
  • Responsible for high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts, and grounding.
  • Fill out permits to work, job safety plans (JSPs), lock‑out tag‑out (LOTO) procedures, and perform last minute risk assessments.
  • Perform medium voltage troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on wind turbines to include wind turbine converters, drive trains, and pitch systems.
  • Climb wind turbines (training provided).
  • Monitor site status using SCADA and other diagnostic programs to ensure healthy site operations and assist site leadership with work planning.
  • Oversee and train junior level technicians on equipment specific operations and troubleshooting practices.
  • Understand and execute ENGIE's official job specific documentation, such as LOTO procedures, work instructions, and routine maintenance checklists.
  • Create and close‑out work orders generated in the Maximo system.
  • Conduct site safety orientations to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) representatives, independent service provider (ISP) vendors, and site visitors.
  • Accompany approved site visitors to ensure all individuals adhere to ENGIE's safety and quality standards.
  • Perform LOTO and general supervision for non‑ENGIE employees as needed.
  • Maintain accurate parts and tooling inventory.
  • Occasionally travel to other sites and/or training facilities to support operational needs and/or training(s), which could include overnight stays.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of three to four years of experience in wind site operations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), or related industry using similar skillsets and training.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC voltage, general electrical theory, interpreting one-line and three-line schematics, and operating/maintaining electrical equipment including AC/DC breakers, AC/DC disconnects, MV transformers, NO/NC contractors, and relays.
  • Must be able to obtain a Global Wind Organization (GWO) or equivalent training certificate.
  • Ability to climb a wind turbine (300+ feet), sometimes multiple times a day.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and executing switching orders.
  • Obtain appropriate level of substation training and/or certifications within 12 months of hire date.

  • This is a field position requiring daily attendance at a worksite.
  • Available for on‑call duties as required.
  • A willingness to work night shifts and extended hours, often outdoors in extreme heat or cold.
  • Readiness to walk, stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record and be able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Willing to travel domestically to support site operations at ENGIE's various renewable modalities as needed (e.g., Solar, Wind, BESS).
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
  • Most of your tasks will be performed inside of a wind turbine, outdoors, or in a shop setting, all of which are non‑climate‑controlled environments. Other tasks will be driving, and in an office setting.
Compensation

Hourly Range: $30.00 - $42.00 USD hourly
