Job Purpose:
The primary responsibilities of the EHS Coordinator will be implementation, administration, training and enforcement of the plant-wide safety, health, and environmental programs. They will also be responsible for keeping abreast of any new EHS developments through attending courses and maintaining contact with other EHS professionals and regulatory agencies as well as promoting personal development and awareness of EHS issues and concerns in all plant personnel.
Maintain a consistent presence out in the plant accomplishing heightened vigilance and awareness with plant activities. Effective and organized record-keeping of all personnel training files, prepare and submit MSHA reports, ensure contractor compliance with USS requirements, prepare and submit state regulatory reports, ensure compliance with all relevant permit parameters and requirements.
This position works with a minimal amount of supervision and works approximately 60 percent of the time out in the plant environment. The EHS Coordinator will work closely with all levels of the plant and corporate organizations and will need to work before internal and external groups. This position requires some travel and a flexible work schedule. It is very important that he/she is able to respond effectively to emergency situations.
Essential Job Functions:- Implementation, administration, and enforcement of plant-wide safety, health, and environmental programs.
- Champion the training program, including annual refresher training.
- Keep abreast of new EHS developments through attending courses and maintaining contact with other EHS professionals and regulatory agencies.
- Promote personal development and awareness of EHS issues and concerns in all plant personnel.
- Be out in the plant monitoring and addressing safety activities/concerns
- Develop a strong and reputable relationship with both hourly and management employees
- Assist, train and educate plant management and employees to develop, maintain, and ensure cooperation and understanding of good environmental, safety, and health practices.

Ability to write clear and concise reports and documents with logical and understandable language that speaks to the message that the writer is trying to deliver. - Cooperation – Have the ability to work well with all levels of employees in the organization and be flexible when decisions are made contrary to personal views.
