Role OverviewAs an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of instrumentation and automation systems for Exxon Mobil Oil and Gas operations, working on call and collaborating with multiple work teams to support operations.
Responsibilities- Install, commission, and maintain controls, electrical and instrumentation equipment in compliance with piping and Instrument Diagrams.
- Test and repair electrical and instrumentation systems used by production and control equipment to ensure adherence to Control Narratives and Cause & Effects.
- Proficient in controller logics, networking and HMI design.
- Evaluate electrical systems and instrumentation to establish plans for repair, perform preventive maintenance and record changes to facility designs.
- Interface with, troubleshoot and repair various control and networking devices.
- Work daily with Operations, Engineering and various organizational groups to meet safety, environmental and production goals.
- Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established company and regulatory procedures.
- Effective communication skills (read, write, and speak).
- Ability to operate hand tools or other equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Maintain a consistent safe work ethic.
- Willingness to attend and complete required training courses.
- Ability to work in small team environments.
- Willingness to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving skills.
- 5 years of experience as an IC&E Technician or an Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation Controls or Electrical Systems.
- Understanding of the process of Oil Field Delivery Systems from well pad to tank battery to central delivery points and saltwater disposal system.
- PLC proficiency (lader logic, Modicon, Allen Bradley, Fisher ROC and IDEC etc.).
- Experience with Rosemount Transmitter and Hart protocol, plus knowledge of control valves and positioners.
- Knowledge of PID control loops.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
