This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

You will be responsible for developing and supporting rocket engine testing processes. As a Manufacturing Planner, you will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will also identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. You will interpret and modify work instructions and routings to convey procedures to technicians and trigger material planning.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team, you will oversee and supervise the people who maintain, repair, and operate a West Texas Test Site for our various launch vehicle systems. By leading a team of mechanical and instrumentation technicians at the Giant Engine Experiment (GEEx) test stand, this position will directly influence the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable rocket engine testing.

Specific Details:
  • 1st Shift Position (8 days on, 6 days off rotation)
  • Must be willing to work extended hours.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into thorough work instructions and build plans.
  • Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight.
  • Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the build and test process.
  • Create in‑build redlines and recommend engineering changes to improve design.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Develop process control measures and evaluation through statistical analysis.
  • Disposition and support non‑conformance repair and rework activities.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.
  • Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment is manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget.
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process.
  • Review changes in build configurations and prepare hardware for any discrepancies in engine builds.
  • Ensure test team always has hardware on hand for any emergent maintenance items.
  • Coordinate with Material Planners to ensure that Material Resource Planning (MRP) is accurate for engine programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an associate degree or graduated a trade school in a technical field or related discipline, and 1 or more years’ of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non‑destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering processes and procedures, including planning systems
