This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will perform Mechanical and Instrumentation tasks and process engine hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on engine integration and ground testing. As an Engine Technician, you will be responsible for receiving and preparing engine hardware for testing, integrating test articles onto the test stand, and supporting engine test activities.

You will support the Engines Business Unit and work hand-in-hand with the ground systems engineering and technician teams.

This position is based in Van Horn, TX. Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assemble rocket engines and rocket engine components according to written procedures and engineering models for test and commercial operations
  • Coordinate and conduct hardware processing such as component assembly, hardware maintenance, and hardware inspections
  • Set up and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including but not limited to torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, voltmeters, 4-20mA calibration meters, and thermocouple meters
  • Operate ground support equipment in preparation for test
  • Maintain inventory of tooling and equipment
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean‑up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD
Travel Requirements:
  • Minimum 10% travel required to other Blue Origin sites such as ATO, OLS, AFRL

Minimum Qualifications:

Level 2:

  • 3+ years
    of rocket engine and/or jet engine assembly and testing
  • 3+ years
    of experience with engine instrumentation instruments (pressure transducers, thermocouples, delta pressures, RTDs, accelerometers, strain gages)
  • 3+ years
    reading/interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and P&
  • Proficient understanding of Data Acquisition Systems
  • Proficient in building ground test instrumentation harnesses and proper use of crimp tools

Level 3:

  • 5+ years
    of rocket engine and/or jet engine assembly and testing
  • 5+ years
    of experience with engine instrumentation instruments (pressure transducers, thermocouples, delta pressures, RTDs, accelerometers, strain gages)
  • 5+ years
    reading/interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and P&
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Data Acquisition Systems, sensors, and instrumentation calibration
  • Demonstrated proficiency in building ground test instrumentation harnesses and proper use of crimp tools

Both Levels:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to work with test and flight safety critical hardware
  • Ability to operate standard mechanical tools and shop fabrication equipment
  • Familiar with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
