ATCO Products is located in Ferris, Texas, and is an IATF/ISO
9001 Certified tubing/hose assembly manufacturer of high-quality automotive and heavy-duty truck components and assemblies. Both original equipment suppliers and aftermarket customers have relied on Atco Products to meet their OE production components and in/out of warranty service and parts requirements for more than 50 years.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to ensure that the products being built, and processes being used adhere to all standards and requirements. Monitor engineering processes and products for alignment with company and regulatory standards and practices. Participates in quality-improvement initiatives and projects. Perform quality reviews and internal audits; evaluates data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of the finished product. Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Leads LEAN/Six Sigma teams.
  • Assists IATF/ISO
    9001 auditing and training role, including core tools.
  • Mentors the balance of the quality team toward personal and continual improvement.
  • Supports supplier on-site auditing and suppliers’ development.
  • Recommends quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Researches statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error rate; determining levels of confidence.
  • Analyzes quality data from plant processes or customer indicators.
  • Provides feedback to customers based on quality projects (e.g., warranty, APQP, issues, etc.).
  • Leads quality investigations and problem-solving.
  • Research’s statistical reliability by using the mean time before failure, Weibull 3-parameter distribution, reliability modeling, and reliability demonstration tests.
  • Develops quality improvement experiments by applying full and fractional factorial techniques.
  • Develops sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods.
  • Maintains statistical process controls by applying demerit/unit, zone charting, X2 charts for distributions, and individual media/range for multi-stream processes.
  • Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests.
  • Prepares statistical information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Contributes to quality engineering and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Engineering field of study.
  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Engineering function.
  • IATF/ISO
    9001 internal auditor & core tools certified (Preferred).
  • Experience with Lean Processes (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Must work well with people and team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
