The Civil Designer will perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CAD will be required.

• Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision
• Research information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material
• Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit‑up, or other basic tasks
• Learn and properly use the document management system
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
• Bring potential project‑related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
• Other duties as required

Associates degree in drafting & design is required. Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required. Experience with Microstation is a plus.

• This position requires minimal physical effort.
• Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year‑around weather conditions and noise.
• Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%).
• Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
• May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
