Instrument Maintenance Technician (Contract - 1 year)

Brunel is recruiting Instrument Maintenance Technicians to work with our major client in Big Lake, TX for an initially 1 year contract.

The selected candidate will install, maintain, test, and repair instrumentation equipment used in production operations. This role ensures instrumentation systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with established performance, quality, and regulatory standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, documentation discipline, and close collaboration with operations, engineering, and project teams.

• Install and maintain instrumentation equipment in compliance with all rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Test and repair instrumentation systems supporting production equipment.
• Evaluate instruments and develop repair plans.
• Document, verify, and track problems and corrective actions.
• Ensure instrumentation performance meets established operational and quality standards.

• Plan, update, and oversee activities within assigned responsibility areas in accordance with laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures, with strong emphasis on health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Support and encourage teamwork between operations, engineering, and project groups.
• Provide input to and review control specifications and work practices.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual.
• Apply and follow work permits through the Permit to Work System (PTWS).
• Ensure quality and timely completion of work scheduled under the Maintenance Program.
• Develop personal and team technical skills related to new regulations, equipment, and methods.
• Attend and instruct technical meetings as needed to communicate specifications, codes, procedures, and new technologies.
• Maintain open communication with coworkers on control-related topics such as safe work practices, training, and materials.
• Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and coordination with other work groups.
• Provide technical support to other technicians for maintenance and troubleshooting of company instrumentation systems.
• Generate Management of Change (MOC) requests related to control equipment and installations and follow through with installation inspections in alignment with OIMS Element 3.
• Construct, monitor, and inspect new installations for consistency with operational requirements and recommend upgrades as needed.
• Act as a stand-in for the Instrument Lead position when required.

• Associate’s degree or required technical certifications.
• Experience maintaining instrumentation and control systems in a processing plant or offshore production facility.
• Familiarity with regulations applicable to oil and gas facility operations.
• Knowledge of OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures.
• Meets all safety, administrative, and technical training requirements outlined in the company-approved training roadmap.
• Possesses required general competencies and Operations Integrity Critical competencies as defined in the Operations Training roadmap.
• Basic to intermediate computing skills.
• Strong organizational and reporting skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
