Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of automated systems across our operations. This role will play a key part in improving efficiency, reliability, and safety through advanced automation and controls solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical leader who can collaborate cross‑functionally and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, program, and commission industrial automation and control systems
- Lead automation projects from concept through implementation and startup
- Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing automated systems to improve performance and reliability
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to define automation requirements
- Ensure systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and internal best practices
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and new technology adoption
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
- Strong experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks
- Proficiency in at least one major PLC platform (e.g., Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider)
- Experience with system integration, commissioning, and field troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control panels
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team‑oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, or motion control
- Familiarity with safety systems and functional safety standards
- Project leadership or project management experience
