Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training) About
The Role
We're looking for mechanical engineering specialists to help train and improve cutting‑edge AI models. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and beyond.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your advanced engineering expertise in a new and impactful way, working alongside top AI research teams to make next‑generation models smarter, safer, and more technically rigorous.
- Organization:
Alignerr - Type:
Hourly Contract - Location:
Remote - Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
- Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, domain‑specific challenges across areas like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, fluid dynamics, kinematics, and material science to rigorously stress‑test AI performance
- Author Ground‑Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step‑by‑step technical solutions and benchmark responses that AI systems use as learning references
- Audit Technical Reasoning — Evaluate AI‑generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
- Refine AI Thinking — Identify and document logical failures in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
- Holds a Master's (in progress or completed) or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts and physical phenomena clearly and precisely in writing
- Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- No prior AI experience required — your engineering knowledge is what matters
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation systems
- Proficiency with engineering software such as Solid Works, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows
- Work on some of the most advanced AI projects in the world alongside leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — set your own schedule and work when it suits you
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global community of experts
- Contribute to meaningful work that pushes the boundaries of what AI can understand and reason through
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
