Summary / ObjectivesA Teller has the responsibility to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position.

- Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Service Standards.
- Know and understand the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, rules, regulations, and pricing.
- Able to identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues; seek the opportunity to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the goals for this position.
- Present a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
- Assess and effectively manage all risks associated with the job function; ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology with the ability to discuss and enroll customers in self‑service options.
- Perform the following teller duties:
- Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Assist in guiding and training new tellers, as needed.
- Provide customers access to safe deposit boxes, if applicable.
- Cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits and prescribed procedures.
- Sell certified checks within assigned limits.
- Balance transactions daily.
- Service or balance ATM, if required.
- Utilize the branch capture system, as appropriate.
- Follow policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain a proper workflow.
- Follow the branch’s security and audit procedures and understand the operation of security devices.
- 18 months or less experience
- Teller duties as described above
- Other duties as assigned
- Education:
High School diploma or equivalent - Experience:
Cash handling, sales, customer service; previous banking experience preferred - Specific Knowledge:
Good interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

- Additional training may be required depending on experience
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; be able to stand and/or sit for long periods; effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations.
This position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation. The location is inside a cooled and heated facility with access to a break room or restroom during breaks.
TravelTravel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed.
