TTUHSC Managed Care is seeking a full-time Mental Health Clinician to provide psychiatric services in a correctional healthcare setting in Post, TX
. This role plays a critical part in identifying, assessing, and managing inmates with mental illness while prioritizing safety, risk management, and quality care.

Position Overview:

The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for the detection, assessment, and ongoing management of inmates with severe mental illness or those considered at risk to themselves or others. The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent documentation practices, and close collaboration with medical, behavioral health, and security teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Detects severe mental illness during all inmate interactions.
  • Mitigates risk to self and others by applying established Risk Management procedures.
  • Provides general management of mentally ill and at-risk inmates.
  • Conducts accurate and thorough clinical interviews and assessments using balanced clinical judgment.
  • Completes all required clinical documentation by close of business each day.
  • Processes referrals to medical and mental health providers.
  • Completes referrals to crisis management services.
  • Reports inmate protection investigations (IPI) and threats to others to security staff in accordance with the Safe Prisons Plan.
  • Processes cancellations of referrals to Behavioral Health Facilities as appropriate.
  • Effectively prioritizes job duties with risk management as the primary focus.
  • Maintains monthly productivity standards set by the Behavioral Health Management Team.
  • Completes unit-specific responsibilities, including Suicide Prevention screenings and Mental Health chain-in reminders.
  • Conducts telehealth clinics as assigned by the Direct Supervisor or Senior Director of Outpatient Services.
  • Ensures accurate and complete caseload documentation and reminder records.
