Responsibilities- Lead Medical Coordinator role: spearhead the team’s approach to non-clinical health service delivery and oversee all aspects of unaccompanied children’s medical, dental and mental health care, with emphasis on disease prevention and health upkeep.
- Collaborate closely with medical providers to ensure the children in care receive the best health services available.
- Provide supervisory oversight for the medical department team.
- Medical Services Coordination & Response: ensure timely medical, dental, and related services with local providers within ORR, VQ and state licensing timelines.
- Coordinate scheduling and transportation of children to medical, dental, and mental health appointments with program staff support as needed.
- Collaborate with health professionals to maintain health and safety standards, including licensing, disease reporting, immunizations, injury prevention, and medication management for out-of-home childcare; maintain awareness of community health and mental health resources for children.
- Attend medical, dental, and mental health appointments when applicable to support the medical department or children with complex medical needs.
- Support medical providers during appointment examinations and procedures when needed.
- Dispense over-the-counter and prescribed medications to children according to Vision Quest’s policies.
- Immediately respond to and comply with individual emergency medical needs of children in care.
- Submit treatment authorization requests through insurance and maintain relationships with community providers to ensure they accept insurance and receive timely payment.
- Educate and counsel children about diseases, treatment, and prevention; inform staff when appropriate and follow up after reunification as needed.
- Ensure professional conduct when interacting with stakeholders and build strong partnerships.
- Provide supervisory oversight for the medical department and schedule regular meetings to communicate program changes and provide training or guidance.
- Supervise, guide, evaluate performance, and apply Vision Quest’s disciplinary process as needed.
- Motivate, supervise, and develop the team to support service integration and program improvement initiatives.
- Maximize team performance through training, supervision, and evaluation.
- Foster a positive culture that supports growth, teamwork, and collaboration with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
- Oversee staff training to meet state and federal mandates; develop corrective action plans or disciplinary memos in collaboration with the Program Director and Assistant Program Director.
- Ensure ongoing training to meet all state and federal mandates; coordinate communication between leadership and staff and attend departmental meetings to stay updated on policy changes.
- Assist with after-hours on-call responsibilities and unannounced visits.
- Excellent interpersonal communication with active listening.

- Excellent writing and technical proficiency.
- Proficient in ORR policies and procedures including policy guides and UAC MAPs.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and leadership skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) with the ability to learn new tools.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a High School Diploma and two years of experience in a medical setting.
