Job OverviewThe EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting and enhancing the safety program at our manufacturing facility with operations in both the US and Canada. This role will assist in implementing safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of workplace safety.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of occupational health and safety practices and be eager to develop their expertise in a manufacturing environment.
EHS SpecialistKey Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and maintaining safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA (US), CSA (Canada), and provincial safety regulations.
- Support the development of workplace safety programs, ensuring alignment with company policies.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to employee engagement rarement in safety initiatives.
- Help ensure facility operations comply with federal, state/provincial, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct workplace safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Assist with risk assessments and corrective actions to improve workplace safety. ult>
- Assist in developing and delivering safety training sessions for employees, including new hire onboarding and ongoing training.
- Maintain training records and track compliance with height safety certifications.
- Support the creation of safety awareness materials and initiatives.
- Assist in investigating workplace incidents, near‑misses, and accidents.
- Help document incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate reporting of safety incidents per US and Canadian regulations.
- Monitor and track safety metrics to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Support the implementation of initiatives that enhance safety culture.
- Assist with safety recognition programs to encourage proactive safety behaviors.
- Support the alignment of safety practices between US and Canadian operations.
- Assist in understanding regulatory requirements in both countries and help implement consistent safety protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree in safetyahs management, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 1‑5 years of experience in workplace safety, preferably in a manufacturing valuables or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of OSHA (US), DOT, FMCSA, environmental or CSA (Canada) safety standards is preferred.
- Safety certifications such as Certified Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent are a plus.
- Must have OSHA 511 and OSHA 30 hr certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute to safety culture.
- Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, or training is a plus.
