Qualifications
  • Education: BA/BS in (Preferred) Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years as a Network Engineer within the Department of Defense (DOD) environment.
    • 1 academic year at an accredited college or university in a preferred degree-related post-secondary program can be substituted for 1 year of experience.
Responsibilities
  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Monitor network engineering performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Configuration and Installation:
    • Configure and install various network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS settings.
  • Maintenance and Upgrades:
    • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including applying service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning to optimize network performance.
  • Change Management:
    • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution and technical support.
Additional Information
  • A Senior Network Engineer typically works on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
  • May oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the overall efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
