Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast‑paced technology company and a leader in data centers. AWS is growing rapidly and seeks a Senior Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. In this role you will lead a large organization, manage department heads who own data center facility infrastructure, and drive operational excellence for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

• Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including facilities managers, chief engineering managers, and engineering operations technicians.
• Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency.
• Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build‑outs, new colocation build‑outs, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the entire mechanical/electrical/plumbing infrastructure.
• Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management.
• Vendor management of colocation data center service providers, if required, to meet or exceed contracted performance SLAs.
• Oversight of a preventative maintenance system and adherence to schedules, evaluation and performance of our infrastructure supporting the data center operations.
• Experience in successful in sourcing and/or outsourcing specific maintenance tasks balancing internal skillsets with frugality.
• Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.
• Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.

• Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity.
• Experience managing large teams across multiple locations and languages, or experience as an acting operations manager.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership.
• 5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentation experience.
• 10+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment.

• Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, etc.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls).
• Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, Dev Ops, or other IT infrastructure domain).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,100 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $313,300 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company; equity, sign‑on payments, and other compensation may be provided as part of a total package.
