Traveling Superintendent – JKL Associates

PUSH, Inc. – a privately‑owned premier communications and power utility contractor headquartered in Rice Lake, WI, that has been providing telecom infrastructure for 50 years.

Superintendent is responsible for managing, overseeing projects, providing direction, and mentoring project foremen and crews. The superintendent assists in all aspects of assigned projects and must maintain excellent working relationships with crew, foreman, subcontractors, customers, and engineers to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and profitability while exceeding customer requirements.

Physical and Environmental Factors

  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed.
  • Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movements.
  • Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Meet or exceed all safety, quality, and productivity requirements for assigned projects.
  • Lead, direct, and mentor foremen and crews to ensure on‑time completion while meeting financial and non‑financial objectives.
  • Staff projects, actively recruit new talent, retain existing employees, and promote career advancement.
  • Manage employee relations, providing recognition, discipline, and performance evaluations.
  • Recruit and recommend additional subcontractors for approval.
  • Recommend and initiate training and cross‑training for all personnel in their area of responsibility.
  • Plan and schedule projects, taking appropriate action to meet or beat deadlines.
  • Monitor overall project performance for productivity, safety, and quality standards, resolving issues as needed.
  • Review and approve daily time, time reports, invoices, purchase orders, and other required paperwork.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on construction equipment and report issues to the fleet manager immediately.
  • Report weekly to the fleet manager information such as equipment hours, miles, etc.
  • Understand project contracts for assigned projects.
  • Abide by all company and manufacturer safety procedures, industry safety standards, OSHA, and related regulations.
  • Establish positive working relationships with crews, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Document and maintain a daily log of project events.
  • Manage documents and elevate change orders for timely approval.
  • Approve subcontractors’ units, production, quality, accuracy, and inventory.
  • Maintain accurate redlines/as‑builds, production footage, and subcontractor management to ensure all projects are on schedule and within budget.
  • Pre‑plan mobilization of crews, equipment, subs, materials, and other project related items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • Work Experience: Five (5) years supervisory experience within a utility construction setting; demonstrated field experience with digging operations in city and rural areas, and operating equipment such as backhoe/loader, excavator, cable plow, and compact track loader with various attachments.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license;
    Class A CDL preferred.
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment screenings.

  • Computer literate and experience using Microsoft and Google G‑suite.
