In this role, you will be responsible for leading/directing railcar production for the Service Center Finishing Department. You will be accountable for the leadership of skilled labor employees, including all aspects of safety, quality, production and cost, and ensure the highest quality work in the most efficient and cost‑effective manner possible.
Responsibilities- Plans, organizes and supervises shift production in accordance with priority goals and availability of resources to ensure adequate and timely completed repairs. Performs in‑process quality audits.
- Communicates work area status/activities to the Production Manager(s). Communicates with other work areas to facilitate smooth car flow.
- Uses technical experience, expertise and problem‑solving ability to achieve and maintain a quality repair. Maintains an effective workforce by training, counseling and motivating capable workers.
- Ensures that all necessary administrative work is complete and accurate.
Education and/or
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in a fast‑paced production environment, preferably with 2‑4 years mechanical finishing experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Organizational skills.

As of the post date, the salary range for this position is:
68,600.00 USD – 81,000.00 USD
. This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors considered in making compensation decisions, including geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs. This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short‑term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.
