Community Outreach and Development Coordinator

Reports to: Pastor

FLSA Status: Non-exempt (hourly)

Employment Type: Full time

Schedule: Monday thru Friday (8 am to 5 pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch; some evenings and weekends required)

The Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator provides leadership and cultivates community engagement for capital development and fundraising and non-liturgical events and functions for the parish by encouraging parishioners to share their time, talent, and treasures in service to God and others. Is an excellent steward of parish assets to include funds, property, equipment, materials and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Seeks new initiatives and communication programs to promote a sustained growth in Parish registrations and social media engagement.
  • Promotes and coordinates non-liturgical Parish life events, such as festivals, concerts, auctions, etc.
  • Presents stewardship ideas and results to the Pastoral Council and the Financial Council during their scheduled meeting and responds to any questions regarding area of responsibility.
  • Oversees and maintains social media and other forms of mass communication, such as church bulletin, parish website, and Church and Community newspaper in order to promote the image and message of the Parish.
  • Build and maintain key relationships in the community within and outside the Parish.
  • Assists all the Parish constituencies to develop and align all the particular messages of different Parish organizations and departments to reflect the one message of the Parish.
  • Provides ongoing progress reports and success of ministry engagement in programs and events.
  • Responsible for ensuring parish compliance with OVASE/VIRTUS requirements and recertifications at all times for parish employees and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with pastor and parish staff to ensure budget compliance as it relates to stewardship and outreach projects/events.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service of the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality to protect the interests of the Catholic Church, and its Parishioners’.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties as required by the Pastor.
Requirements Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing and/or communications
Experience
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years’ experience in marketing, ministry, Religious Education, Pastoral Studies, or a combination there of
License and Credentials
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge, Abilities And Skills
  • Ability to resolve and reduce conflict.
  • Experience with computer software and Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.
  • At least 2 to 3 years successful experience operating and running various social media platforms and communications.
  • Ability to be optimistic and enthusiastic in their approach towards being an apostle of Jesus Christ.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include assisting with gatherings and events on evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish along with knowledge and understanding of the culture.
