The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing Services position is to assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the facility in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. This position is responsible for ensuring consistent quality care is delivered to the patient/resident population. As Assistant Director of Nursing Services, the role carries administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.
Qualifications- A current and valid license is maintained in the applicable State.
- Minimum of two years charge nurse and supervisory experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Assists in directing and coordinating day‑to‑day nursing care functions for patients/residents in accordance with state and federal rules, regulations, and standard nursing practices.
- Ensures provision of treatments, medications, and nursing services according to patients/residents care plans and physician directed orders.
- Participates in annual evaluations and, if necessary, disciplinary counsel/action per Cantex's Hiring and Retention Manual.
- Assists in ensuring essential weekly/monthly committee meetings are held in accordance with Cantex's Clinical Policies and Procedures and Patient/Resident Care Management Systems (e.g., Skin, Falls, Restraints, Weights, Assessments, and Quality Assurance Committees).
- Conducts frequent daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel perform essential functions per Cantex clinical policy and regulations.
- Documents and reports each patient’s accident or incident per policy and regulations.
- Notifies attending physician and family or responsible party promptly of any significant change in the patient's health condition.
- Functions as a team leader/role model.
- Acts on call periodically as needed by the facility.
- Ensures nursing personnel comply with Cantex Clinical Policies and Procedures.
- Has reviewed and enforces Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention.
- Ensures patient/resident safety.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Maintains Patient/Resident Care Management Systems for ongoing service and integration into care delivery.
- Contributes to orientation and professional development of nursing staff.
- Completes employee evaluations annually or after probation, and provides counsel or disciplinary action when appropriate.
