Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring telemetry and Med/Surg experience with a TX or compact RN license.

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Cardiac recognition and IV start skills preferred
• Strong time management skills preferred
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Med/Surg unit spanning 4th and 5th floors with 60 beds and approximately 50 staff
• Patient ratios of 5:1 on the Med Surg Specialty 4th Floor and 6:1 on the Med Surg 5th Floor
• Staffing includes charge nurses, RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries as grid allows
• Unit performs abdominal surgeries, diagnostic procedures, thoracentesis, heart caths, gastric sleeves, joint replacements, and ortho trauma repairs
• Uses remote telemetry, capnography, Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, and dynamaps
• EMR system is Alterra (Allscripts)
• 13-week assignment on 7P-7A night shift
• Mandatory float to Inpatient Rehab, ED, or PCU as needed, within skill level and scope
• Weekend shifts required with no on-call responsibilities
• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit handling post-surgical and medical patients
• Team-oriented, positive, and flexible personality is ideal for this unit
• Scrub color is transitioning from black to Medical City Blue
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
