SummaryAssists in the process of trimming and removal of trees, clearing and chipping tree debris, and disposing of tree debris by performing the following duties.
Essential Responsibilities- Work as a member of a tree crew which includes varying numbers of Grounds workers, Climbers, and Crew Leaders.
- Assist and support the crew leader and climber in a variety of ways.
- Work as part of a team that performs tree care activities to maintain safe and healthy trees for our clients.
- Job site set up and clean up.
- Daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
- Support other team members in tree care activities.
- Ensure that all operations, job sites, and employees are safe and that the general public which might come into contact with the area will be safe.
- Communicate effectively with other crew members and the public.
- Perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Demonstration of role specific skills or verifiable requisite experience.

- Communicate using hand signals with climbers and verbally with the general public to direct them safely around the work area.
- Communicate effectively with the climber and crew leader to ensure safety and maintain acceptable standards.
- Follow established procedures related to roping and rigging, equipment maintenance, adjustments to equipment, and reporting malfunctioning equipment.

Detailed Description Of Tasks- Arboricultural Fundamentals – perform all ground‑based tree care operations.
- Equipment operation – advanced skills in safe operation of powered equipment such as chippers, trucks, and blowers.
- Chainsaw cutting techniques – intermediate to advanced skills with a chainsaw.
- Tools – effective use of hand tools such as a pole saw or pole pruner to prune trees from the ground.
- PPE – use task specific personal protective equipment according to industry standards and company protocols.
- Jobsite management – keep a jobsite clean and organized; assist the climber or crew leader in rigging operations; support the set‑up of basic rigging systems from the ground; implement plans to control vehicular and pedestrian traffic; maintain a protected work zone.
