Summary
The Quality Inspector I is responsible for inspecting and evaluating products, materials, and test specimens to ensure compliance with quality standards, engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase orders. This role supports receiving, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with established quality procedures, inspection plans, and production travelers. The position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Key Responsibilities Inspection and EvaluationPerform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process and finished parts, materials, and test specimens.
Verify conformance to applicable procedures, process plans, and quality standards.
Accurately document and record all inspection results on company forms and records.
Identify, tag, and segregate nonconforming materials; generate required nonconformance reports.
Review and validate certifications and documentation for compliance with specifications and purchase order requirements.
Maintain proper material traceability through stamping and marking procedures.
Conduct destructive and non-destructive testing (UT, PT, etc.) with limited supervision, following established procedures and specifications.
Support customer inspections and audits as required.
Ensure the integrity and organization of quality control documentation systems.
Perform routine calibration of tools, gauges, and instruments to maintain accuracy.
Process material stock requests per established procedures.
Adhere to all safety, environmental, quality, and 5S standards.
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and organized manner.
Communicate improvement ideas related to processes, tools, or documentation to the Quality or Area Manager.
Complete all assigned tasks accurately and on time.
Uphold positive relationships with customers and team members.
Must meet ATF background requirements.
High school diploma or GED required; coursework in Industrial Arts or Trade School preferred.
Experience in mechanical inspection, machining, or non-destructive testing (UT, PT) preferred.
Working knowledge of quality control methods, inspection procedures, and documentation standards.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
