Lab Technician - Chemistry IIWe are looking for a detail‑oriented laboratory technician to support the food safety and quality testing of our cheese products. The role involves performing physical testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate data entry into our quality management system.
Job Responsibilities- Learn and perform current lab tests and new testing procedures as required.
- Analyze in‑process, finished product, and project samples in chemistry analysis.
- Prepare and execute written procedures, order supplies, and start tests independently.
- Interpret results and perform endpoint testing when necessary.
- Manage confidential information and maintain a clean, organized laboratory.
- Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments, and keep logs updated.
- Participate in quarterly proficiency studies and quality control programs.
- Report results and act on data-driven decisions.
- Help coach and train teammates through on‑the‑job and buddy training programs.
- Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and safety policies, reporting any incidents.
- Support departmental safety teams and root‑cause analysis activities.
- Complete OSHA required safety training annually.
- Proficient English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- High school diploma or GED plus 1 year of lab experience (HS science courses acceptable).
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or related field.
- Experience in a Laboratory I, II, or III role.
- Experience with SAP and strong written & oral communication skills.
- Completion of HCC Level 1 Leadership training or in the process of completing it.
- Stand, walk, and use hands to reach and handle in a laboratory setting.
- Stand and walk most of the workday; work at heights and in small areas as required.
- Push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, and repeat these movements as part of job tasks.
