FAR Inspections – Residential Occupancy Verification Contractor

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

Independent contractors earn a predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is essential.

The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

Inspectors work at the county level. In some cases, you may share a county with another inspector if the volume supports two inspectors.

• Perform the most common type of inspection in 5–6 minutes.
• Complete each inspection within 4 days after assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend prolonged periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus, as you pay for your own gas)
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone)

• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county urban or rural, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. The work is consistent month‑to‑month.

You earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
