Job Overview

FAR Inspections is seeking a Mortgage Field Services Inspector based in Reno, NV. The role involves performing residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but effective time management and deadline compliance are essential.

FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. Independent contractors are sent to inspect properties to:

• Verify property occupancy.
• Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

We contract with inspectors at a county level. You would be responsible for completing all inspections in your county, and may split the county with another inspector if volume allows.

• Most common type of inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
• Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Each inspection is paid at a rate that yields an equivalent of $30-$40 per hour.

Depending on county and whether it is urban or rural you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
