Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms for unauthorized persons, fires, and other incidents; report emergencies immediately.
  • Conduct routine patrols of buildings, grounds, and restricted areas; verify credentials at campus gates.
  • Coordinate emergency responses and notify hospital management, law enforcement, and other agencies.
  • Assist in apprehending suspects and prepare accurate incident and investigative reports.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to security regulations.
  • Participate in disaster response, continuity of operations (COOP), and other special assignments as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 24 months of work experience, preferably 2 years in security, law enforcement, or military.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license (or out‑of‑state license with certified driving record).
  • CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of building security, surveillance equipment, and alarm devices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare concise incident reports.
  • Ability to remain calm, assess danger, and take appropriate action under emergency conditions.
Additional Requirements
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background, drug screening, and registry checks (CANRS, etc.).
  • Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital procedures.
  • Flexibility for overtime and extended hours; may require travel up to 10%.
