Telephone Mechanic ; FOC Splicer

The Outside Plant FOC Splicer will be responsible for the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables for telecommunication networks. The candidate will work in collaboration with the Outside Plant Engineers and Technicians to ensure the proper functioning of the fiber optic network.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of experience in fiber optic cable splicing and maintenance.
• Knowledge of fiber optic telecommunications infrastructure.
• Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines.
• Experience with fiber optic cable splicing and termination, including fusion splicing and mechanical splicing.
• Experience with OTDR and other fiber optic testing equipment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

• Splice and terminate fiber optic cables to extend telecommunications networks.
• Conduct fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.
• Troubleshoot and repair cable faults and service outages.
• Install and configure network equipment, such as routers, switches, and optical network terminals.
• Perform testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables using OTDR and other testing equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of splicing, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Comply with safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
