About Cherokee

We are hiring for Operations & Maintenance Technician for Cherokee Pump station, located just east of Cherokee, TX in the Hill Country. Closest town is San Saba, TX, 12 miles north. Rural area, 1.5 hrs northwest of Austin, with many outdoors recreation opportunities, large ranches, farmland, and state and national parks.

What Role You Will Play In Our Team
  • The Electrical Technician is responsible for keeping all electrical power supplies and equipment operational and ensuring proper installation of equipment in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and Exxon Mobil procedures and standards. The Electrical Technician may be required to provide relief to other Electrical Technicians in a different work area.
  • Coordinating and performing electrical and communications troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Performing calibration, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and electronic equipment. Includes diagnosing faults and determining optimal procedure/equipment to remedy and repair accordingly.
  • Responding to operational and emergency calls as part of on‑call duties.
What You Will Do
  • Perform electrical maintenance and repair activities.
  • Review and interpret P&, electrical, and electronic control schematics, including redlining drawings for review.
  • Wire complex control circuits from schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of electrical systems up to and exceeding 15,000 V (High Voltage).
  • Knowledge of electronic theory, communication systems and PLC principles.
  • Program PLCs, flow computers, and HMIs.
  • Work with DOT, ISO, NEC, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of all electrical operating equipment and spares.
  • Install and calibrate equipment such as temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow meters, tank level gauges, and control valves.
  • Understand valves and motor‑operated actuators (MOV) – installing, repairing, setting limits, and maintaining.
  • Large electrical equipment such as motors, motor control centers, transformers.
  • Variable frequency drives (VFDs) diagnosis and repair.
  • Perform maintenance with minimal downtime to the operation.
  • Work to highest safety standards, including reporting all incidents and discrepancies.
  • Write various maintenance procedures.

  • Plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and regulatory procedures.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively.
  • Operate hand tools or other pipeline equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Use Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Maintain a consistent safe work ethic.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and DOT motor carrier regulations.
  • Willing and able to attend/complete required training courses.
  • Work in small team environments and unsupervised when required.
  • Work in various locations, indoors/outdoors, in all weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have safe driving skills.
  • Respond to callouts as required by the position.
