Starting Pay: $20.65 - $23.23/hour. Status:
Full-Time | Immediate Hire.
Schedule:
Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- As a Railroad Switchman at Con Global, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient movement of railcars within our terminal.
- Monitor and align track switch points.
- Inspect track conditions and switch points.
- Safely couple and uncouple railcars.
- Monitor and operate track switches to ensure proper alignment for railcar movement.
- Inspect track conditions and switch points to identify any issues affecting safe operation.
- Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars as part of train assembly or disassembly.
- Replace damaged or broken railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).
- Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to ensure coordinated rail movements.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards in a high-traffic rail environment.
- 2-3 years of rail experience desired.
- Switching or conductor experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to always follow safety requirements and practices.
- Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars.
- Must pass a pre‑employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
- Federal Rail Administration regulations apply. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, a drug screen may be required.
- Open availability.
- Previous experience in rail yard or switching operations.
- Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures.
- Training in railcar or track maintenance is a plus.
