Location:

Starting Pay: $20.65 - $23.23/hour. Status:
Full-Time | Immediate Hire.

Schedule:

Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • As a Railroad Switchman at Con Global, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient movement of railcars within our terminal.
  • Monitor and align track switch points.
  • Inspect track conditions and switch points.
  • Safely couple and uncouple railcars.
  • Monitor and operate track switches to ensure proper alignment for railcar movement.
  • Inspect track conditions and switch points to identify any issues affecting safe operation.
  • Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars as part of train assembly or disassembly.
  • Replace damaged or broken railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).
  • Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to ensure coordinated rail movements.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards in a high-traffic rail environment.
Required Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of rail experience desired.
  • Switching or conductor experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to always follow safety requirements and practices.
  • Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
  • Federal Rail Administration regulations apply. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, a drug screen may be required.
  • Open availability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in rail yard or switching operations.
  • Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures.
  • Training in railcar or track maintenance is a plus.
