We are supporting a growing engineering business in Thame with the recruitment of a Buyer. This is a newly created, permanent position driven by the introduction of new products and the successful award of multiple new projects.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking manufacturing environment, with clear scope to grow and develop within the purchasing and supply chain team as the business continues to expand.
The Role
The Buyer will play a key part in supporting day-to-day purchasing activity while contributing to longer-term sourcing and supplier strategies. You will work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure materials and components are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with project requirements.
This is a hands-on role with real exposure to bespoke and project-based procurement, making it ideal for a Buyer looking to step into a broader, more influential position within an engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers
- Raise and manage purchase orders in line with production and project demands
- Support supplier negotiations around pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
- Assist with sourcing strategies, including dual or multi-sourcing where appropriate
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to support new product introduction and project delivery
- Help improve purchasing processes, stock control, and supply chain efficiency
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain activities
About You
- Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Understanding of bespoke, project-based, or low-volume/high-value purchasing
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong supplier relationships
- Commercially aware with good negotiation skills
- Proactive mindset with a desire to learn, develop, and grow within a team
