Technical Production Manager

Full time: 40 hours per week.

Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience).

Downe House is a leading independent boarding school for girls aged 11-18, based in the village of Cold Ash near Thatcham. Our aim is to provide pupils with a wealth of academic, pastoral and co-curricular opportunities to allow them to grow into confident young women prepared to take on the world.

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Technical Production Manager to lead the delivery of exceptional productions, performances and events across Downe House’s diverse range of venues. As part of our highly regarded Information Systems Department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping memorable experiences for pupils, staff, parents and visitors, combining technical expertise with creativity to bring events to life.

Working within an environment renowned for both educational innovation and outstanding performing arts provision, you will oversee the technical delivery of school productions, concerts, showcases and major events while driving the adoption of new technologies that enhance the audience and participant experience.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled technical production professional with substantial experience in theatre, live events or performing arts environments, together with a proven ability to manage complex productions from concept through to delivery. You will possess expertise across lighting, sound, video and stage technologies, alongside strong project management and leadership skills to effectively manage and develop a team of technical specialists.

Equally comfortable working strategically and operationally, you will build strong relationships with staff, pupils and external contractors, ensuring the highest standards of creativity, safety and professionalism are maintained. With a proactive and solutions-focused approach, you will thrive in a dynamic environment where flexibility, innovation and a passion for delivering outstanding events are at the heart of everything you do.

Benefits include:

  • Generous pension scheme, with employer contributions at 9%
  • Free access to a modern on-site gym, sports facilities and swimming pool
  • Delicious free meals and on-site parking
  • Regular social events for staff
  • Supportive induction programme
  • A beautiful working environment in a semi-rural location

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Own transport is essential as the school is in a rural location with no public transport links.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and any offer of employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check (DBS), satisfactory references, and social media checks.

At Downe House we promote equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff, both current and prospective, and we actively support an environment and culture that values diversity and inclusion.
