Mechanical Inspector

Location:

Near Maidenhead (commutable from Reading, Slough, High Wycombe, Bracknell)

Salary: £34,000 - £37,000 + Overtime + Benefits

Hours:

37.5 hours per week

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected engineering and manufacturing business producing precision‑engineered components for high‑performance industries.

You'll be working in a modern manufacturing environment where quality, precision, and continuous improvement are genuinely valued. The role offers a varied workload across incoming, in‑process, and final inspection activities, supporting the production of complex, high‑specification engineered products.

Quality Inspector Duties
  • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections
  • Carry out dimensional and visual inspections of precision components
  • Use measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs
  • Inspect parts against engineering drawings and specifications
  • Complete inspection reports, NCRs, and quality documentation
  • Identify and manage non‑conforming products
  • Maintain traceability and inspection records
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
  • Assist with ISO
    9001 / AS9100 quality compliance activities
  • Communicate quality issues with production and engineering teams
  • Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives
What They're Looking For Essential
  • Previous Quality Inspection experience within engineering or manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experienced using precision measuring equipment
  • Strong understanding of inspection and quality processes
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
Desirable
  • Experience in aerospace, motor sport, or precision engineering environments
  • CMM operation or programming experience
  • Knowledge of ISO
    9001 / AS9100 standards
  • Experience producing FAIRs to AS9102 standards
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma
  • Exposure to NDT methods (e.g. MPI, Nital Etch)
