Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Thatcham, Berkshire

Salary: £52,000 per annum
Shift: Continental days and nights – 12‑hour shifts (6‑6)

A well‑established food manufacturing business, producing mayonnaise, pasta sauces, chutneys, salad dressings and pastes for major UK retailers, is looking for an engineer to join a busy and supportive team. The role involves both electrical and mechanical maintenance on bottling lines, cooking vessels and automated production equipment. You will respond to breakdowns, conduct planned preventative maintenance and support continuous improvement initiatives across site machinery.

• General maintenance across all manufacturing equipment
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance routines
• Installation and commissioning of new equipment
• Supporting project work and continuous improvement activities
• Maintaining engineering workshop equipment and services
• Conducting regular factory inspections and reporting defects
• Training production staff on equipment operation and basic maintenance
• Maintaining maintenance records and engineering documentation using CMMS systems

• Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
• Engineering qualification – minimum City & Guilds qualification
• Food manufacturing experience (desirable)
• PLC fault‑finding experience (desirable)
• Experience with motors, drives and automated production machinery (desirable)
• Previous experience working within the UK manufacturing sector (desirable)
