Band 5 Staff Nurse - Day Surgery Unit (WBCH Thatcham)
This is a part-time post for 23.5 hours per week.

We are looking for a staff nurse to join our ward team within the day surgery unit, working Monday to Friday.
You will be caring for patients undergoing a range of surgical and endoscopy procedures.
There may be opportunities to work in other areas of the department (theatre, endoscopy, recovery) as required.
We will provide opportunities for nurses to develop both professionally and personally, through local training and external professional courses.
Main duties of the job- Working as part of the multidisciplinary team focusing on the ward team. There may be opportunities to work in other areas of the department (theatre, endoscopy, recovery) as required.
- Admission and preparation of patients for surgical and endoscopy procedures.
- Recovery and discharge of patients following different anaesthetics.
- Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations.
- Work autonomously in a nurse led unit.
- Maintaining accurate patient records on EPR.
- To assist with ordering and maintaining the clinical area.

Job responsibilitiesUndertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.
Deliver care without direct supervision. Accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care.
Teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.
Accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others.
Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Develops competences and practices relevant clinical skills required to deliver care to the patient/client group, e.g. venepuncture, cannulation.

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Nurse
- Evidence of recent continuous professional development
- Current NMC registration
- Advanced life support
- Theatre/ surgical nurse qualification
- Experience in a hospital/clinical setting
- Post registration experience in clinical setting
- Experience in surgical/endoscopy area or acute setting
- Experience in a theatre setting
