As an important member of the Support Services team, you will help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment, supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital. In this varied role, you will monitor and maintain security procedures in line with hospital policies and guidelines, support the implementation of the Security Manager's strategy and contribute to the effective running of the security function.

You will be responsible for welcoming visitors, handling telephone enquiries professionally and building positive working relationships with service users, visitors, colleagues and external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

As a Security Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and wellbeing of service users, visitors, and staff at Thornford Park. Working closely with the Security Manager, you will uphold the hospital's security procedures and ensure a professional presence across the site. Key duties include monitoring security procedures, supporting the Security Manager's strategy, welcoming visitors, handling telephone enquiries, and building positive relationships with stakeholders.

You'll promote a positive culture, challenge unacceptable behavior, and engage in ongoing professional development. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent security knowledge, problem-solving skills, professional conduct, confidentiality, and prioritization abilities.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant previous experience working within a secure environment (desirable)
  • Excellent Security knowledge
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to display professional conduct at all times
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to prioritise duties and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of computer software programs
