Support Officer

Location:

Thatcham, Berkshire. Pay: £17.60 per hour. Type:
Full‑time temporary contract.

We are recruiting for an experienced Support Officer to join a supported accommodation service in Thatcham. You will provide person‑centred support to vulnerable adults, helping them maintain their tenancies, build independence and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities
  • Completing client assessments, support plans and risk assessments
  • Delivering regular one‑to‑one support based on individual needs
  • Supporting clients to maintain their accommodation and develop independent living skills
  • Working with clients experiencing mental health and substance misuse issues
  • Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns
  • Coordinating support with Adult Social Care, health services, criminal justice agencies and other partners
  • Maintaining accurate case notes, records and statutory information
  • Helping clients understand their tenancy rights, responsibilities and financial obligations
  • Managing challenging situations involving distressed or aggressive clients
  • Reporting repairs and promoting the safety and cleanliness of the accommodation
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting vulnerable or diverse client groups
  • Knowledge of person‑centred support and tenancy sustainment
  • Strong safeguarding awareness
  • Excellent communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills
  • Confidence dealing with challenging behaviour
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to complete one
  • Flexibility to work outside standard office hours when required
  • Experience supporting people affected by mental health difficulties or substance misuse would be particularly beneficial
