HGV Driver (Transport)

Our Transport team is looking for a skilled HGV Driver to play a vital role in keeping Harrods moving. Based at our Thatcham site, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of Harrods merchandise between sites and partner locations. You will report to the Transport management team at our Thatcham Vehicle Distribution Centre and take ownership of your vehicle, paperwork, and route while delivering excellent service to colleagues and partners.

The role is a standard 40‑hour working week with overtime paid at 1.5×. Shifts are 8 hours total, consisting of two trips per day with a minute break in between. All drivers are required to work one Saturday and one Sunday per month and receive a block of four consecutive days off each month. You will be driving our 18‑tonne Class2 HGV.

• Represent Harrods on every journey, delivering products with care and professionalism.
• Drive independently while collaborating with a dedicated team to keep the supply chain running smoothly.
• Manage vehicle, paperwork, and route and maintain vehicle and uniform to reflect the Harrods brand.
• Load, unload, and secure goods, handling pallets, rails, and cages on wheels.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks, report any defects promptly, and keep accurate tachograph records.
• Follow drivers’ hours and EU Working Time Directive; adhere to all company policies and health and safety procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring every delivery is signed for and handled with precision.

• Minimum of 2 years’ HGV driving experience (Category C or C+E).
• Hold a clean UK driving licence, Category C or C+E, a valid Driver CPC, and a digital tachograph card.
• Be aged 21 or over for insurance purposes.
• Experience with SAP or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptable to changing routes, priorities, and operational needs.
• Ability to manage time effectively, multitask, and solve problems proactively.
• Maintain uniform and vehicle in a clean, smart, and presentable condition.
